Scallop Trip – CANCELLED
The below summary is based on 2017’s trip information, and may change.
Once again, GOFC’s most expert scallop catcher, Capt. Charlie Courtney will lead a scalloping trip for all club members who’d like to learn how it’s done or just like good family fun. Charlie has been scoping out the best spots and has found some locations with plenty of succulent bivalves north of the river channel entrance at Steinhatchee.
The plan is to gather at 9:00 a.m. in the river just outside the entrance to the Steinhatchee boat ramp. Once there, monitor VHF 68 for further info. Also take care to stay out of the river channel while waiting and or block the entrance to the ramp area. Charlie will lead the fleet to the general area, which will likely be about 7 miles north of the channel entrance with water depths around 3 feet.
This is always a fun family event and a great way to introduce new people to the club; feel free to bring non-members along. If you are planning on attending, please drop Charlie an email (courtneych@mac.com) with the boat name and expected passenger head count by Friday (8/11) evening.
